Forgetting Your Pants and Other Consequences of an Over-scheduled Life

I was exhausted. The kind of tired where I had to consciously check that I had pants on before leaving the jeans-852253_1920house. I thought I had been handling the insane pace of fall soccer, school, work, writing, and injured kids rather well. And then I wasn’t.

I realized the physical impact of my mental state when I answered the front door and my neighbor apologetically asked if she had woken me up.

I laughed and replied, “Nope, this is my normal look.”

And it was. My hair was done, makeup applied and yet I had the washed out, bags under my eyes, look of dancing until dawn without any of the fun stories to accompany it.

In fairness, I was in style. All the other moms were sporting this hot look this season. Mamas wearing fatigue….direct from the runway of an over-scheduled life.

There was a comical side to my current condition. I had been wanting to write a Bible study on life balance but could not find the time to sit down and get started. Irony, a close kin to my native tongue, sarcasm. God definitely likes to communicate in a manner we understand.

His message was not lost on me. I had started the year with a razor sharp focus, to create a Bible study for mamas who were crazy busy and couldn’t dig into the Word. A study we could do together, anytime and anywhere.

And then life took over.

Now, with only two chaotic, holiday-filled months separating me from a new year, running smack into this absurd paradox was just the jolt I needed.

Focus. Scale back. Prioritize.

Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He’s the one who will keep you on track. Proverbs 3:6 (MSG)

For the next two months, if you are on my e-mail list, I will still send you an e-mail every Thursday. I’ll share my progress, behind the scenes snippets, laughter-filled outtakes, encouragement and other fun stuff, because we are on this journey together.

But, I won’t be putting out my weekly “Devo on the Go.” (OK – maybe one Devo in December – ‘tis the season.)

Now, I realize every marketing professional and social media expert just collectively gasped and murmured “doesn’t she know that a weekly blog is the key to building an audience?”

Yep. But I serve a BIG God.

And frankly, you were the one He was trying to reach and you are here!

IMG_0731.PNGSo stay tuned to your e-mail and connect with me on Facebook. I am caffeinating, digging in, writing, filming, editing and creating a study just for you, mama!  And here’s the good news…imagine how much hilarious trouble my four kiddos will get into over the next two months that will be poured into this Bible study. It’s going to be a wild ride.

Buckle up. I can’t wait to share it with you!.

How about you? Have you felt God calling you to do something but just can’t find the time to do it? Listen. Focus. Scale back. Prioritize.
